Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer

Live life with your arms wide open ... and your mouth full. Good times.

This is my father and his lady friend . They have shown me by example that love knows no age and the heart has many rooms . Thank you for spending a few days with me deep in the northern woods .

Awesome.
"Grow old along with me.
The best is yet to be."
I don't know who said it, but I think of those words whenever I see people older than me (read: senior citzens) holding hands when they're walking through a mall, or gazing lovingly at each other over a dinner table.
Nice pictures.

First: Thank goodness you're alright. You had us all worried, and for me, at least, that aggravates my condition. Never mind what kind of condition, a condition. And if there's one thing the doctors can't cure, it's a condition. Next time, at least find a way to let us know where you are, young lady.

Now, all smartassedness aside (assuming that "smartassedness" is a word):
My Mom and Dad were married exactly 50 years, four months and four days when we lost my Mom (four years ago this past April, and sometimes, I still miss her as much as that first day without her on this earth). Their marriage had its ups and downs, but they set a fine example for their kids and grandkids of the power of unconditional love.

My Dad was painfully lonely for the first year and a half after we lost my Mom. Then he found new love, in a woman with whose first husband he had worked in the paper mill. They got married two years ago this past May, and while they sometimes turn my stomach with their horny teenager antics, my heart is warmed by their obvious love for each other. They both fondly remember their respective late spouses; tend to their graves together; and still plan to be buried next to their respective late spouses. Again, the power of love turned two lonely people into one loving couple, also setting an example for subsequent generations.
So here's to my Dad, my Stepmother, Ma's Dad and his Lady Friend (capitals on all references might not be technically correct, but they are deserved, and are my way of adding to my tribute): Omnia vincit amor -- Love conquers all, and in your respective cases, it has removed the tarnish from what would otherwise have been a very grey and gloomy Golden Age.
